Who We Are and How We Operate:

Culture and Respect within the TSR Community

1. 12 Step Programs and TSR

We encourage diverse opinions as to what constitutes 'recovery' and appropriate treatments of addiction. We are open to different methods of treatment and recovery.

We are not affiliated with any 12 Step organizations, though at this time, most of our members and storytellers are.

Some individuals in 12 Step anonymous organizations are uncomfortable with members mentioning any affiliation with the organization, even the mention of sponsorship.

Others state that the 12 Steps and Traditions merely require members not to name the group they are affiliated with.

Some feel that recovery means absolutely no use of drugs of any kind, including anti-depressants or medicine associated with treating addictions.

Some feel that they can drink occasionally as long as they never use the substance they were primarily addicted to.

We leave all of these decisions to you.

2. Monitoring and Rules for TSR community's comfort and security. Please also read our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for further details

RULE # 1: All members must THINK before they post or share thoughts, feelings or experience in a public forum. We have made every possible effort to allow members to edit anything they've posted, however, once its been made public, we can not be held responsible for who sees it or how it is used.

We will not tolerate 'flaming' (being disrespectful of others' comments or being inflammatory), but we encourage diverse opinions from all of our members.

We monitor posts daily, but allow our members to 'flag' posts they feel do not comply with the rules of the site. Members who do so, must explain why they feel this way, and the administrators will determine whether or not to remove the post. If the member who posted this is flagged again, they will be contacted, and, if deemed necessary, the member will be appropriately dealt with. If they receive three or more flags, the administrators will determine whether this member needs to leave the site. If, however, the flagging does not comply with TSR's rules, the administrators may instead ask the flagger to leave the site.

3. Data we store

All posts, comments, blogs, chat room and forum postings are stored in our database, even after "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.

Our web logs and other records are stored indefinitely.

Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.

4. Archiving and display of TSR postings by search engines and other sites

Search engines and other sites not affiliated with TSR - including archive.org, google.com, and groups.yahoo.com - archive or otherwise make available TSR publicly-available postings

5. Circumstances in which TSR may release information

TSR may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.

TSR may also disclose information about its users to law enforcement officers or others, in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to: enforce our Terms of Use; respond to claims that any posting or other content violates the rights of third-parties; or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of TSR, its users or the general public. However, this does not include selling, renting, sharing, or otherwise disclosing personally identifiable information from users for commercial purposes in violation of the commitments set forth in this Privacy Notice.
